Human Engineering

As you may have noticed, our logo mentions "human engineering". Many people wonder what we mean by this slogan. Here's the bottom line...

Human Engineering at GSS

At GSS, we are committed to fulfilling our engineering mandates in a socially responsible manner, respecting human beings and sharing our know-how in order to contribute to the improvement of our society.
Too often improvement has been used simply to reduce operational costs and increase the profitability of organizations. In contrast, we believe that improvement, like technological progress, must be centered on the human being. Moreover, the human as the architect of change should take advantage of improvement initiatives for his or her own personal and professional growth. Ultimately, our personal improvement will help our organization.
We are convinced that leadership development is an essential condition for the successful transformation of our organizations so that they are better equipped to face ever more complex challenges. In this perspective, the GSS team is particularly fond of Dr. Deming's leadership teachings.

How we do it matters...

Our service and product-offering is structured around two organizational centres of excellence: Collaborative Design and Predictive Technologies. At the very heart of our consulting approach, these two centres of excellence work in permanent synergy to quickly translate innovation into concrete and sustainable solutions for our clients.
The primary goal of design is to invent a new way of doing things or a new product in order to better serve a clientele or a target population. In our collaborative design process, we must respond to needs, solve problems, innovate in the search for solutions and explore future scenarios in order to improve the quality of life of human beings.
The collaborative aspect of our design approach lies at the heart of human engineering. Co-construction allows for the appropriation of problems and solutions, as well as the adherence to the future scenario. We must not forget that perseverance will be required for a successful implementation.
Collaborative design is a systematic design approach that emphasizes value creation (customer service, patient care, procurement, etc.) and the active participation of users in the system and product design process. By integrating the voice of the customer into the design process in a continuous feedback loop, risks and opportunities can be quickly identified and corrective action taken.
Today, the design process must be based on large amounts of performance and operational data. Beyond understanding historical data, our center of excellence in predictive technologies assists our clients and partners in establishing possible future scenarios and evaluating them objectively. In the current context of accelerated digital transformation of organizations, it is crucial to leverage the data at our disposal, while identifying the missing data that is important for informed decision-making.
We rely on digital twins to proactively and quickly guide our clients in their design and modernization decisions.
As you can see, when thinking about human engineering, many principles and methods can be brought to bear, but what is important is the underlying philosophy that informs the way we think and act. With the advent of artificial intelligence and technological transformations, the importance of human engineering is of great relevance today.
